Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Markly (also referred to as we, us, or the platform) collects, uses, and protects information when business owners, their staff, and their customers use the Markly booking and business-management platform.

Markly is currently operating in a pilot phase. This policy describes how the product works today and will be updated as the product and our legal structure evolve.

Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email, phone, and authentication identifiers from Google, Apple, Microsoft, or email sign-in.
  • Business data: business name, branding, services, pricing, working hours, policies, and settings.
  • Customer data entered by businesses: customer name, phone, email, visit history, status, and notes.
  • Staff data entered by businesses: staff name, contact details, role, and internal notes.
  • Appointment data: bookings, intake answers, customer notes, payment status recorded by the business, and AI consultation summaries.
  • Calendar data: availability and event metadata from connected Google or Microsoft calendars.
  • Uploaded media: business logos, landing-page images, and staff photos.
  • Technical data: log records, lifecycle and usage events, and limited diagnostic information.

How we use information

  • Provide booking, scheduling, and business-management features.
  • Help businesses manage their customer and staff relationships.
  • Sync availability and appointments with connected calendars.
  • Send transactional notifications and sign-in emails where configured.
  • Provide optional AI assistance features.
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the platform.

AI features

Markly uses OpenAI (model gpt-4o-mini) to power the booking assistant, business coach, and support assistant. Conversation content you provide to these features is sent to OpenAI to generate responses.

Please avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information into AI chats. AI-generated summaries of a booking may be stored on the related appointment record.

Calendar integrations

When a business connects a Google or Microsoft calendar, Markly reads availability to block already-busy times and can create calendar events for new appointments.

Calendar events may include the customer's name, contact details, and appointment notes, and the customer may receive a calendar invitation from the connected provider.

Cookies and sessions

Markly uses a small number of cookies that are essential to operate the service. We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics tracking.

  • Authentication session cookies that keep you signed in.
  • An internal Markly HQ support-session cookie used by our team for support and administration.
  • A language-preference cookie.
  • A short-lived referral-attribution cookie when you arrive via a referral link.

Sharing and subprocessors

We do not sell personal data. We share data with infrastructure and service providers (subprocessors) strictly to operate the platform, such as hosting, database, storage, authentication, calendar, email, and AI providers.

A current list is maintained on our Subprocessors page.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in different countries in accordance with their applicable legal and contractual obligations.

Data retention

We retain data while an account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal and operational obligations. Businesses control much of the customer and staff data they enter and can edit or remove it within the product.

Security

We apply technical and organizational measures described on our Security page. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. End customers should contact the business they booked with, since that business controls their data. Business owners can contact us using the details below.

Children

Markly is intended for business use and is not directed to children.
